Circular construction is an approach in which materials and raw materials in the construction industry are reused as much as possible, with the aim of minimizing waste and promoting sustainability. Here, we aim to minimize the carbon footprint by using recycled materials, reducing energy consumption and choosing materials with low environmental impact.
What are the benefits of circular construction?
- By recycling and reusing materials, circular construction minimizes construction waste.
- Reusing construction waste reduces the need for new raw materials. This helps conserve natural resources and reduces the carbon footprint of construction activities.
- Reusing materials often requires less energy than producing new materials, resulting in lower CO2 emissions.

SDE++ subsidy scheme
Since September 10, 2024, the Sustainable Energy Production and Climate Transition Incentive Scheme (SDE++) has been reopened. The SDE++ is the main scheme through which the government supports large-scale sustainable (energy) projects. Both companies, local governments and non-profit organizations can apply.

EcoFab: Substantial Steps to a Sustainable Future
The industry is facing sweeping changes. The climate agreement, energy transition and stricter sustainability requirements require different approaches in material use, design strategies and forms of collaboration.
With EcoFab, we focus on sustainable construction, carbon reduction and the use of circular and biobased building materials. In a consortium of partners from the construction and materials industry, we are developing an ecosystem for these materials, with the aim of reusing raw materials and scaling up circular production in the construction sector.
